Thermal energy method (TEM) is a procedure for removing burrs caused by production (such as due to milling, drilling) on various machine parts. For this, the work pieces are placed in a pressure chamber, which is closed hydraulically with a locking plate. A precisely defined gas mixture is placed in the pressure chamber by means of a gas metering system and ignited. The subsequent combustion creates temperatures of 2500-3300°C, during which the burr to be removed reaches its ignition temperature and reacts with the excess oxygen in the pressure chamber. This leads to complete combustion of the burr within 20 ms.

The TEM procedure offers the particular advantage of removing internal burrs (such as in holes) as well as burrs on external surfaces. The procedure can be applied to various materials like steel, cast-iron, aluminum, or even plastic. The intensity of the deburring can be precisely adjusted by means of the filling pressure and by the excess oxygen in the deburring chamber. The use of modern control technology guarantees the highest level or process reliability with uniform quality and optimum performance.
